Julie was with The Andersen Firm from 2004 through 2010 and most recently practiced with Becker & Poliakoff based in Fort Myers, Florida. She is also known worldwide for her Wills and Estate Planning Guide on About.com: http://wills.about.com.
Julie has been practicing in estate planning since 1995 and will continue to assist clients located throughout the State of Florida, with an emphasis on serving clients in Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Key West, and Naples.

William E. Andersen Sworn in to Supreme Court of the United States |

William E. Andersen, Founder and President of The Andersen Firm, was sworn in to the Supreme Court of the United States Bar on motion of Attorney Ed Scales on March 4, 2013.
“I had a very enriching and humbling experience today as I was sworn in to the Supreme Court Bar. It’s actually surprisingly small but an incredibly beautiful courtroom, “says Andersen. Chief Justice John Roberts granted the motion for Mr. Andersen to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States.
Andersen has been practicing law for almost 30 years. He is a member of the New York, District of Columbia, Florida, and Tennessee Bars. Additionally, he is the lead author of The Pocket Guide to Trusts & Estates: Understanding Estate Planning, Estate Settlement, Estate Litigation, Asset Protection, and Elder Law.

William E. Andersen, J.D.,
LL.M. (Estate Planning) is newly certified as an Accredited Estate Planner by
the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.
The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAECP) is a national
organization of professional estate planners and affiliated Estate Planning Councils
focused on establishing and monitoring the highest professional and educational
standards. NAEPC fosters public awareness of the quality services rendered
by professionals who meet these standards. NAEPC builds a team approach involving
cross-professional disciplines to better serve the public’s need in estate planning.
The Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) designation is
a graduate level specialization in estate planning designation. Mr. Andersen
also holds a law degree (J.D.) from Vanderbilt University and a Masters of Legal
Letters (LL.M.) from the University Of Miami School Of Law.

On January 10, 2008 The
Andersen Firm, A Professional Corporation, officially opened an new office at
Harbour Island Executive Center in St. Augustine Florida.
The office will service the estate planning, estate settlement, probate and estate
litigation needs of the North Florida as well as the West Coast of Florida.
“We believe the need for quality estate-planning,
estate settlement, probate and estate litigation over the next 10 years is tremendous
in North Florida. We
have made the decision to increase our capabilities in this region, and position
the firm to serve financial advisors and their clients even better,” said William

Matthew T. Harrod is the managing attorney for the
North Florida office. Matt
earned his J.D. from Ohio Northern University and holds an advanced degree (LL.M.)

SunTrust Building in Johnson City Tennessee.
The office will service the estate planning, estate settlement and estate litigation
needs of the East Tennessee as well as South West Virginia.

Investment
Services Acts Enhances Asset Protection |
|
|
1. On July 1, 2007, the Investment Services Act was passed in
Tennessee.
2. It became the seventh state and first southeast state to provide the
type of asset protection normally provided offshore in such
locations as Nevis, Jersey Island, and the Bahamas.
3. Asset protection is now available for individuals who are concerned
about loosing their assets to unforeseen creditors.
4. IST is irrevocable. Trustees can be individuals or an institution.
5. The transferor cannot serve as trustee but can choose trustees and
replace trustees.
6. Requires an affidavit that individual transferring assets has full right
and title and is not defrauding creditors.
7. Asset protection attaches after the assets are in the trust for four
years.
8. The transferor can direct the investment of the IST assets.
9. The transferor can receive the trust income.
10. The transferor can request up to 5% of the trust principal annually.
11. The transferor can receive additional distributions of principal based
upon the discretion of the trustee.
12. The transferor can live in a home owned by the trust.
13. The transferor can veto distributions to other beneficiaries.
14. The transferor can direct the distribution of the transferor’s trust
assets upon death to any one or more persons.
15. The transferor can remove the trustee and other trust advisors and
appoint successors.
16. The IST can continue for 360 years. |

Law Firm Names New Managing Attorney
for Saint Augustine/ North Florida Office;
moves management and marketing functions
to Saint Augustine |

The Andersen Firm, A Professional
Corporation, which serves clients in 38 markets from five offices, has relocated
its management and marketing functions to St. Augustine effective October 1,
2006.
The Andersen Firm will continue to service clients in estate planning, estate
settlement and estate litigation throughout Florida and other markets; however,
management and marketing functions are now handled from the St. Augustine office.
“We believe the need for quality estate-planning,
estate settlement and estate litigation over the next 10 years is tremendous
in North Florida. We have
made the decision to increase our capabilities in Saint Augustine and North Florida,
and position the firm to serve financial advisors and clients even better,” said
William E. Andersen, the President and CEO of The Andersen Firm.
Andersen, a graduate of West Point, Vanderbilt Law School and University of Miami
School of law (Estate Planning) has relocated to Saint Augustine, with his wife
Jane, and son, Will, a sophomore at Flagler College.
In addition to Andersen, Erin Turner, the Director
of Professional Alliances, and the marketing functions as well as a variety of
back office functions have been relocated to Saint Augustine. The Andersen
Firm which has been in existence since 1990 first opened its office in St. Augustine
in 2000. |
